Margaret Higgins Obituary

Margaret Ann (Hiller) Higgins, 89 of Chicopee, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Lynn, MA, on February 13, 1933, the daughter of the late George and Hedvick (Sauderholm) Hiller. She was educated in the Springfield School system, and was employed with the Sheraton Hotel of Springfield and Baystate Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roland Higgins; a son, Raymond Gelinas; two brothers, Joseph and Melvin Hollis; and seven sisters, Barbara Tesini, Irene Tesini, Ruth Tesini, Marie Pelletier, Alice LaFromboise, Evelyn Justis and Mary Childs. Margaret is survived by three loving children, William Gelinas of Chicopee, Jacqueline Gagne of Lemon Grove, CA, and Dorothy Theriaque of Springfield; her daughter-in-law, Romelda Gelinas; and leaves 8 cherished grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will gather and remember Margaret on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM -12:00 noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, both in Springfield.
