Barbara Thomes Obituary

Barbara LaBonte Thomes, 91, Ascended Into the Journey of Everlasting Life from Baystate Hospital on July 10, 2022. She was born in Springfield, MA, the loving daughter of Albert and Wilhelmina (Saxe) LaBonte. Barbara is now united with Cecil H. Thomes her husband and the love of her life who passed away in 2013. She has resided in East Longmeadow for the past 28 years and was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. Barbara was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School Class of 1950. Through her life was employed and excelled in a variety of customer service roles in the restaurant industry.
After her retirement she enjoyed decorating her home and relaxing, especially in her backyard gazebo.
Most of all she will be remembered as a loving mother, adoring grandmother, and cherished sister. She leaves her loving son Michael Thomes and wife Karen of Springfield, grandchildren Priscilla Pires (Jack) of Ludlow, MA. Mario Polastri (Sarah) Plymouth MA, and her great grandchildren, Gabriella, Amelia, and Sadie. She will also be dearly missed by her best friend Doris Maule, and several loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves many neighbors and friends who provided care and support to her throughout the years.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Saint Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. All are invited and asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours have been omitted. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Saint Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
