William McClure Obituary

William Francis McClure, Jr. We have lost a legend! Will McClure was the patriarch of the fiercely loyal McClure Family. The native Californian was born in Sacramento on March 28, 1941. A proud alumnus of St. Joseph's Seminary in Mountain View and a 1962 graduate of the University of San Francisco Go Dons! A veteran of the United States Naval Reserve, Will married Maryellen Lynch of San Francisco in 1965. A resident of San Rafael and Brockway Springs for nearly 50 years, Will and Maryellen raised three boys. Will had a very successful career in land development with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and as senior vice president of the AF Evans Company, while squeezing in 50 years of competitive tennis playing at The Olympic Club and Rafael Racquet Club. As an essential part of the "dream team" of chain gangs, McClure never missed one of his three sons' football games. Serving on many boards, Will was always there to support organizations and individuals alike. This founding member of the T Club was also a great cribbage player, proud Scot and dedicated member of Clan MacLeod. Hold Fast! Will was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Irene and Bill, and nephew Jim McClure (Kim); and is survived by the love of his life Maryellen; brother Andy (Jane); sister-in-law Dorothy Lynch; and his three sons Bill (Lisa), Angus (Erin) and Shamus (Melissa). He also leaves behind his goddaughter and niece, Marnie Doherty (Terry). Grandpa Will was blessed by his nine grandchildren who adored him: Will, Cameron, Hamish, Garrett, Alexis, Malcolm, Brynna, Sarah and Cassidy. We have lost a legend, but great memories will live on! Slainte Mhah!

What a warm and loving couple, Will had a great sense of humor and fine mind, always great conversations...a good friend and he and Mary were so wonderful together. Their 50th Wedding Anniversary was a very special memory. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the boys and their families.
