Mazomanie - John Finlayson Wick died peacefully at age 98, the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at home, with numerous family members at his side. With his beloved late wife, Helen Ann (Wood), he established a family that now numbers 60. He was deeply proud of his "clan," and insisted on counting even those who have died, now three of the 60. In 1954 he founded Wick Buildings to serve the needs of farmers by building structures that accommodated tractors, allowing machinery to substitute for physical labor. From the beginning, he emphasized the priority of serving the customer, never wavering from that goal. Entering the mobile home business in 1959, across the years, his companies completed more than 250,000 buildings and homes all over the country. Late in life, he became namesake of the movie character "John Wick," now a very successful movie franchise. He became a ubiquitous sight in Mazomanie, riding his bicycle and later an adult tricycle around the area. He proudly completed 2,198 miles in 2024. His last few rides were done with two broken ribs, due to a fall at home that he didn't tell anyone about. And he got involved in numerous local efforts, for example publishing pictures on Google that got hundreds of thousands of total views, and donating a number of structures, including "Helen's Bridge" over the Black Earth Creek, east of Mazomanie.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, from 3 to 7 p.m. at The Grove, 314 Anne Street, in Mazomanie. Funeral services will also be at The Grove on Saturday morning, February 1, at 11 a.m. Guests will proceed to Grandma Mary's Restaurant in Arena for a 12:30 p.m. luncheon, while the family attends a brief graveside service on the way.
In lieu of flowers, we request that memorials be directed to the Family of John F. Wick. Funds will be used to support the Mazomanie community he loved so much.
