Jon Christopher Weninger walked hand in hand with Christ during his entire lifetime. As a youth and an adult, he always had a picture of Jesus nearby.
Throughout his life, Chris was known for his love, kindness and thoughtfulness, which was coupled with a palpable morality.
Chris had a magical childhood on the shores of Lake Michigan, filled with lifelong memories and friends. Chris was an excellent athlete – he swam competitively in high school and was an outstanding water and snow skier.
He was the family's king of trivia, and he could recite lines from several movies verbatim, much to the delight of those around him. He was also an avid football fan throughout his life.
Chris earned his bachelor's degree in psychology. Always ready with a funny response or a quick-witted one liner, Chris added his wonderful sense of humor to any setting. He was the first to have a card or small gift for someone's special occasion. His wonderful ability to celebrate life's simple joys is a lasting gift to all who knew him.
Chris lived in Orlando, Knoxville, and Birmingham before moving to Tampa five years ago to be near family. In 2019, he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. After a valiant fight, he lost his battle to cancer on April 9, 2022.
Everyone rallied around Chris, and we would especially like to thank our parents, Marilyn and Don; and his twin sister, Dana, and her husband, Paul; who were with Chris every step of the way over the past two-and-a-half years with love, compassion and care.
We would also like to recognize Brandon and Michelle Pudlo. Chris and Brandon were like brothers growing up and throughout their adult lives as well. Brandon and Michelle provided much love and support during Chris's illness. And to all our family and friends (too many to name), please know how grateful we are for the cards, care packages, phone calls and prayers. We are forever grateful for your love and support.
Chris is survived by his parents, Donald and Marilyn Weninger; his twin sister, Dana Whiting (husband Paul); sisters, Dianne Scott (husband Greg) and Debra Weninger (partner Sharon Miller); and brother, Scott Weninger (wife Michelle); his uncle, Rob Owens; and his first cousin, Ashley Owens, and her daughter, Olivia. Chris was a wonderful uncle to Nicholas and Lydia Scott, Jack and Austin Whiting, and Emma and Kaitlyn Weninger.
A salute to all the nurses, doctors and personnel at Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa General Hospital for outstanding, compassionate care. We have the highest praise for all at these two institutions.
Chris's loss is immeasurable and undefinable. His entire family will miss him dearly. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

I was one of Chris' nurses here in Westville, In. I enjoyed his stories of family. He spoke of his twin sister often. Such a great guy, with all the things that he was going through he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to share. My heart is broken for your family. I will miss Chris dearly. Such a beautiful soul.

Marilyn and Don I know how tragic this is for all the Weningers. Your whole family has been a huge part of our lives. The only comforting thing I can say is that Chris and Nick walk together laughing and smiling telling family stories with smiles on their faces without pain and suffering. Please continue to look forward with your beautiful family. Nick wanted us to and I believe Chris would want you to also. Much Love to all the Weningers always. Jeff
