Shirley Martin Obituary

Shirley A. Martin, 87, of Florence, passed away on August 30, 2024, at her daughter's home in Chesapeake, VA. Shirley was born in Alva, Kentucky on June 14, 1937. She was a long-time member of Florence Baptist Temple in Burlington, Kentucky. Shirley was a devoted fan of UK basketball and New England Patriots football. Additionally, she truly enjoyed crocheting, cooking and reading. Professionally, Shirley was a diligent secretary for R.A. Jones in the Electrical Engineering Department, a role she held with pride until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Martin, her parents; Hazel and Sue Hogg, and her daughter, Diane Meece. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Pat) Diffley, her three grandchildren, Shannon, Nathan (Kelly), and Jaron, her great-granddaughter, Josie, and her sisters; Brenda and Linda. A visitation for Shirley will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 10am until 11am with a service to immediately follow at 11am at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington, Kentucky. A post-service reception will take place from 11:30am until 1:30pm, also at the Linnemann Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately following the reception.
