Corinne Turcotte Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 11, 2022.
Dover, NH - Corinne Jean Turcotte, 95, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022 in the home she built with her husband Norman after living an incredibly fulfilling and beautiful life.

She was born July 29, 1926 in Rochester the daughter of John and Victoria(Beaudoin) Boivin. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1944 and attended Notre Dame for Nursing, receiving her RN in 1948. She entered Frisbie Memorial Hospital as a nurse in 1947 and was the lead operating nurse before retiring. She became an EMT in 1981 and received an accommodation from the Acting Captain of Dover Fire & Rescue in 1982 for her quick action in rendering aid to a person hit by a train.

Corinne married her husband Norman Arthur Turcotte on June 4th, 1949. They lived briefly in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania while he finished his schooling before returning to the seacoast area. Together they built a home on Dover Point in 1965 based on a plan that Corinne drew up. There they raised their two sons and opened their home to all of their grandchildren and eventually their great-grandchildren, regularly spending time swimming and diving in their pool.

She was an active member of the Rochester Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E, 1393, the American Legion Post #7 of Rochester and the Senior Citizen's Club of Dover and South Berwick ME. She took up line dancing and participated in many dances in her later years. She also took on learning Spanish in her 80's though her French accent always dominated her attempts.

She traveled extensively around the world with her husband, her sisters and her brother-in-law to places such as Niagara Falls, Bermuda, Nova Scotia and Africa.

After retiring from the medical field she devoted her full attention to maintaining the rental properties she owned in Rochester. Even at the age of 85 she could be found standing on the roof of her Pine St apartment building pulling up shingles rather than allowing anyone else to or shoveling icy driveways and turning away assistance. She was nothing if not independent throughout her life.

Though dementia tried to change her, Corinne spent the last ten years living exactly the way she wanted, on her terms and in the house she built with Norman. She played kickball and hop scotch with her great-granddaughters, watched them swim and always said, "They'll sleep good tonight" and spent time at her sister's camp on the lake. The last time she went to camp she and Jan joked about racing across the lake, not to see who would win but who would drown first. Her quirky sense of humor shone through to the end.

She is survived by her grandsons John and his wife Jenn Turcotte of Dover, Jeffrey Turcotte and his wife Louise of Farmington, her granddaughter Shannon Pelkie and her fianc? Glenn Theriault of Rochester, three great-granddaughters Callie & Kennady Theriault and Destanie Turcotte, her niece Nancy Labrecque of Rochester. She is also survived by a son Jay Turcotte and his wife and their daughters and several nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman, her son John Arthur Turcotte and her sisters Rita Lagasse and Janet Labrecque.

The family wishes to thank Wentworth Homecare Hospice for their kindness and assistance in Corinne's final weeks. As a nurse who prided herself as being trained by the nuns we know that you provided her with the level of care she would have given any of her patients.
