Christian Luhnow Obituary

August 20, 1964 - January 9, 2025 Christian John Luhnow had a big heart. It moved him to connect with people from all walks of life, to express deep emotion with those he loved, and to embrace his journey intensely. He was magnanimous and larger than life, so perhaps it's no surprise that Chris's heart could no longer endure. He passed away on January 9, 2025, at age 60, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Chris was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Locke Luhnow. He is survived by his loving wife, Felicia; his daughters, Christian and Locke, from his marriage to Katherine Heyler Hollister; his sons, August and Edwin, from his marriage to Anna Barber; his father, Christian Sr. (Laura); and his brothers, Jeffrey (Gina) and David (Helena). Nothing brought him more joy or pride than his children.

Growing up in Mexico City, Chris attended the American School before graduating from St. Stephen's in Austin, Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree at Stanford University, studied at Oxford University, and earned his MBA at the Wharton School of Business. He made Los Angeles his home-a city he loved passionately.

An entrepreneur at heart, Chris saw opportunities where others didn't. After launching one of the first dot-coms, Petstore.com, he turned his business acumen to the luxury automotive world, helping shape HRE Wheels into the brand it is today. Throughout his career, Chris shared a longtime friendship and business partnership with Phillip Hillhouse.

Chris was gifted in many ways and a man of remarkable empathy. He always remembered the names of parking attendants and waiters and shared jokes and hugs with them. He had a soft spot for stray dogs.

Through life's challenges, his faith in God, his love for the world, and his devotion to family and friends never wavered. Chris's memory will forever shine in the love he gave and the lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at noon at Union Church in Mexico City.

The family invites you to honor Chris's memory by donating to one of his favorite causes:
Lange Foundation for Animals – a Los Angeles based charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals.

The family thanks everyone for their prayers and support.

Chris was an absolutely amazing, energetic, love-filled person who will missed deeply by any who got to meet him and know him. At business school, his big heart shined daily, embracing everyone and everything with gusto and humor: he had a constant smile and a joy that he shared with all around him. My condolences are with his family: thank you for sharing such an amazing, loving, uplifting gift of a person with all of us who received the pleasure of knowing him.

My deepest condolences to Felicia and the family. My heat is broken for you. Chris was an amazing kid in High School. Always kind and positive. I could not have asked for a better tennis partner. I´m grateful to have known him. He was one of a kind.
