William Griffing Obituary

William "Bill" Griffing

William "Bill" Griffing, 80, beloved son of Frank Griffing and Margaret (DeZutel) Griffing, passed away July 27, 2025 at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisc. Bill was born in Harvard, Ill. and grew up in Fontana,. He attended Big Foot High School where he was a very talented athlete.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years. Upon returning home, he pursued higher education starting at UW Whitewater and ended at UW Madison. In the summers he was a ski instructor at Gordy's in Fontana. His adventurous spirit later led him to the Florida Keys, where he lived and worked as a commercial fisherman and dock master.

He is survived by his brother, John (Evelyn) Griffing of Walworth. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, George Kieft; his brothers, Jim (Kay) Griffing and Robert Griffing; and sister-in-laws, Kay Griffing and Evelyn Griffing.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Joseph's Indian School for Lakota (Sioux) children in Chamberlain, South Dakota.
