Marjorie Buell Obituary

ANGOLA - Marjorie Joan Buell, 92, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, at Laurels of DeKalb, Butler.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1932, in Steuben County, Indiana, to Harold and Wilma Blair Deetz, the third of six children. She attended primary school in Hamilton and high school in Montpelier, Ohio.

She married Elson Lee Buell on Sept. 24, 1949, and he passed away on Oct. 21, 2008.

They raised their four children on a farm in Richland Township. Margie loved driving tractors and the smell of fresh dirt. She was not just a homemaker, she was a property manager - cutting wood, mowing grass, gardening for the family's food, putting up preserves for the winter, tending the home, preparing meals. She worked hard and liked to stay busy.

She was proud of her children and grandchildren. She was always there to help, showing up with all the tools for the job and a box of freshly baked cookies. Her flower gardens were colorful and immaculate, and her bird feeders were always full.

Margie worked at the Holiday Inn and Scott's grocery store in Angola. She served coney dogs at Skip's Dog House and decorated cakes for Baskin Robbins ice cream store, located in an adjoining suite to Lee's real estate business.

Survivors include her children, Lee Ann (Gary) Oberlin, of Pleasant Lake, Pamela Buell, of St. Louis, Missouri, Mitchell (Denise) Buell and Dennis (Teresa) Buell, both of Angola; grandchildren, Amy Oberlin, Mitchel Buell, David Buell, Kileigh Wolfe, Hannah Beck, Tyler Buell, Adam Buell, Kody Buell, Kelly Meloon, Kari Franger and Chad Garman; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; a granddaughter, Katie Oberlin; and her siblings.

Family and friends will gather at H.E. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, Angola, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, from 3-5 p.m.
