Charles McMichael Obituary
November 11, 1931 - November 27, 2023
Hutchinson, Kansas - Charles H. McMichael, 92, died November 27, 2023 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born November 11, 1931 in Corwin, Kansas to Walter G. and Mary J. (Hoke) McMichael. On September 17, 1955, he married Gay Dowd at Braman, Oklahoma and she survives of the home.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton.
Charlie graduated from Anthony High School in Anthony, Kansas in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He had a long career with the former Duckwall Alco stores where he worked for 47 years. He began working for Duckwall Alco in Anthony, Kansas when he was 12 years old. He retired from the Newton Alco Store in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Gay; children: Charles R. McMichael, Aaron McMichael (Kathy), Mary Huddleston (Ken); four grandchildren Cheryl Stevens (Paul), Michael and Jamie Wyatt, Chris McMichael, Melissa (Matt) Calvin. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Lorraine Messner and Earl McMichael
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Wyatt officiating. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 a.m. to service time Friday. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Newton and left with Petersen Funeral Home.
