Gerald Simpson Obituary

Gerald Anthony Simpson, 81, of Sterling passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 in LaVernia, Texas. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 12:30 pm Saturday, March 26 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will follow at 1 pm. Gerald was born on December 13, 1941 in Denver, CO to Andrew and Florence (Ellerman) Simpson. He served in the Army National Guard, decorated as a rifle sharpshooter. His career was spent working with IBM and later did sprinkler work in Sterling. Gerald married Ilene Peterson on June 29, 1968, and they were married for 53 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and especially being with his grandkids. Gerald is survived by his wife Ilene of LaVernia; son Darrin Simpson of LaVernia; daughter Karen (Lanckriet) Simpson of Sterling; grandchildren Nicholas Simpson, Tiffany Simpson, Taylor Houghton (fiancé Mikenna Curlee), Kaitlyn Houghton (Trevor Elliott), Cristen Houghton, Clinton Rockwell; brothers Ronald (Linda) Simpson and Andrew (Linda) Simpson; sister Marilyn (Paul) Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Florence, brother Terrence Simpson, and sister Shirley Montgomery. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the Gerald Simpson Memorial Fund care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
