CHERRY VALLEY - Mrs. Ruby Charline Baker Hodges, 97, of Cherry Valley, died on Monday, June 6, 2022, at her home. She was born in Vanndale on Dec. 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Miller Baker.
Ruby was a 1943 graduate of Vanndale High School. She married James Elbert Hodges in 1944. They dedicated 48 years to Hodges Nursery in Cherry Valley.
She was a member of Hydrick Baptist Church.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Linda Clements and husband Larry of Cherry Valley; sister, Hazel Evans of Van Buren; grandchildren, Dr. Derek Clements and wife Courtney of Pocahontas and Carrie Elizabeth Clements and her partner, Lisa Morarity of Cherry Valley.
She is also survived by her great-grandchild, Sarah Beth Clements Fountain and husband James of Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillie Mae Baker; son, Steve Hodges; husband, James Elbert Hodges, in 2012; sisters, Wilma Butler, Faye English and Glenda Yates; and brothers, James, Marvin and Melvin Baker.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the angels at Legacy Hospice for the wonderful care of our mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. today, June 9, at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Vanndale Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Larry Clements, Derek Clements, James Fountain IV, Baker Yates, Johnny Organ and Tommy Ray English.
Memorials may be made to the Vanndale Cemetery, 92 Cross 234, Cherry Valley 72324.
