JONESBORO - Cory Drexel Herndon, 40, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was born Jan. 20, 1982, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Growing up, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. Cory was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State University. He then went on to attain his licensure as a journeyman electrician and practiced that trade for seven years prior to becoming a farmer.
Cory was a farmer in the Otwell and Weiner areas and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his dirt bike. He loved going to the lake and playing the guitar for his friends and family.
Kentucky was a special place to Cory and many of his best memories were made there. Cory's best hunting buddy was his dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bob and Sarah Berry, paternal grandparents, Roy and Bevie Herndon, and one aunt, Brenda Berry.
Cory is survived by his wife of nine years, Kamri Herndon; one son, Henry Herndon; one daughter, Charley Herndon; his parents, Drex and Suzanne Herndon; one sister, Emily (Eric) Gribble; two nephews, Max Gribble and Jack Gribble; one uncle, Kevin (Bonnie) Herndon; one cousin, Sydney Herndon; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit beginning at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.
