Carol Cox Obituary

Carol Anne (Seelye) Cox, 80, of Corsica, passed away during the late-night hours of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born on April 4, 1944 in St. Marys, to the late Frank Patrick and Caroline Marie (Schaberl) Seelye.

She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School with the Class of 1962.

Carol married Cecil Lowell Cox during a small ceremony, witnessed by family and friends, in the backyard of their home in Corsica, on July 2, 1988. Cecil preceded her in passing on May 8, 2023.

She worked at Airco and Powdered Metal in St. Marys and also as a Legal Secretary for Achille, Ellermeyer and French in Brookville, and then for Pope, Drayer and French in Clarion.

She was a past president of the Corsica Borough Council.

Carol had a very warm and welcoming personality. She was a friend to everyone she met.

Carol loved to spend her time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, reading, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include four daughters, Laura L. Bent, Michele M. Shetler, Karen L. Tyler and Leah J. Schneider-Stewart; one sister, Nadine Brosky; 13 grandchildren, James Bent, Luke Bent, Julia Bent, Kristen Petrosky, Joseph Aveni, Frank Aveni, Emily Aveni, Rachel Campbell, Fredrick McGarry, Phillip Sneed, Curtis Sneed, Kesiah Stewart and Amelia Stewart; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in passing by one sister, Delores Mertz.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 29, 2024, for a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m., at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church, located at 36 Church St. in Corsica, with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger officiating.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, located at 345 Main Street in Brookville.
