Cora Cheves Obituary

Cora Sue Cheves, 80, of Jackson died Friday February 16, 2024 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1944 in Cambridge, Maryland to Isaac and Leona Nave.

She married Allen Cheves who preceded her in death January 2010.

She is survived by daughters Lora (Larry) Morgan and Nancy Cheves; son Adam Cheves; daughter-in-law Danielle Fritzges; grandchildren Erica Jones, Timothy (Hannah) Hammack, Matthew Hammack; great grandchildren Tayler Cheves, Alex Cheves, Morgan Cheves, Suzie Jones, Rose Hammack, Aaron Hammack (deceased), Leo Hammack and Alexander Hammack.

Cora was a long time resident of Jackson and a long time member of Stark Methodist Church. She received a Masters degree in education from Georgia State University and taught the gifted in the Butts County School System for 30 years. She loved teaching and she loved her students. Cora next tackled bookkeeping and was the bookkeeper for JLS Landscaping. She was most at home working in her yard and looking out the kitchen window at the lake. Cora could always be found accompanied by her beloved Bouvier, Lucas. Her Christian life was as beautiful as her flowers and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving and caring person, devoted to her family and friends, always thinking of others first and "To know her was to love her." She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.
