DORIS MCDEVITT Obituary

MCDEVITT DORIS (nee KANE) Passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late James McDevitt, with whom she shared a beautiful life and loving marriage beginning in 1957. Doris was a beloved mother to Michael and his wife Amy, and a proud grandmother to Matthew and Aiden. She was also a cherished mother to Carol and her husband Jaime, and a loving grandmother to Lauren and her husband Steven, Kristen (future great-grandmother to a baby girl due in October), and Nicole. Born and raised in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia, Doris was a proud graduate of Hallahan High School, Class of 1955. She will be remembered for her warmth, grace, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy is one of faith, strength, and kindness, and she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and generous heart. Doris will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will live on forever in all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visitation Services on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., with a Mass to follow at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19115. Dear Michael, Amy, Carol, Jaime, and families,
Her legacy written here so describes the Aunt Doris I knew, as she always had a warm smile and a kind word for me growing up. I hope these memories soon warm your hearts and turn today´s sadness into wonderfully happy memories. Sending warm hugs to you all!
