Andrew Power Obituary

Avon - Andrew John "Drew" Power, 71, of Avon, Ind., passed away Oct. 18, 2024, in Plainfield, Ind., following a short illness. He was born March 13, 1953, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Edison, N.J.

The second of five brothers, Drew stood out as the only towhead of the group as the family spent two years traversing the country in a station wagon with a handsome but not-very-smart Irish setter named Rusty.

After graduating from John P. Stevens High School in Edison in 1971, Drew started out as an automotive technician before joining NSK Corp., a global manufacturer of ball bearings. During his career at NSK, he relocated from South Plainfield, N.J., to Atlanta, where he served as lead warehouseman. He was later named distribution center manager for NSK's facility in Bloomingdale, Ill. He returned to Atlanta as lead warehouseman and later served in the same role at NSK's Plainfield, Ind., plant until retiring in 2008.

Drew was known for his astounding (some say spooky) recall of events, and as a result he was a formidable Trivia competitor. It didn't hurt that he never missed an episode of "Jeopardy!" if he could help it. Drew had a quirky sense of humor and was known to interject quotes from numerous comedy shows and movies into normal conversations to make people laugh.

He was also an avid sports fan who closely followed college football and the NFL, as well as baseball, golf and the NCAA basketball tournament each spring.

Drew was predeceased by his parents, David and Anne (Clancy) Power, and his youngest brother, James Power. He is survived by his brothers, David (Zenaida) Power, Thomas (Denise) Power and Robert (Rhonda) Power; nieces Tara Power (Jeremy Derbyshire-Myles), Jordan (Christopher) Li, Kristen Power (Skyler Duchesne) and Sarah Power; nephews Justin Power, Joshua (Ashley) Power, Jonathan (Alexa) Power and Craig Marzocco; sister-in-law Nancy (James) Power; and many cousins.

Services will be private. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, at a later date.
