Chad, its interesting how some people you just remember when they are gone...You are one of those people. The legacy you left behind for me is your love for the outdoors and respect for wildlife. Whenever, I am fishing for trout, watching a deer graze or hundreds of snow geese rising up from the rice fields, I think of you buddy and the many stories you shared with us about your connection with nature. I remember you as "one of the good ones!"

Chad,
When Daisy and I walk by your home we expect you to be out front, greeting us, discussing some interesting topic with me that we might not always agree on but we could listen, learn and respect each other´s opinion. That´s how I remember you ~ or helping the kids with woodworking, frying up something on your grill or just chatting with your family ~your beautiful blended family. And always, always getting treats / biscuits for Daisy or having one of the kids do it. You were so good to her, to us ~and as I read these other messages I am not surprised to hear that as a common theme. You made a place for yourself in our hearts and you will always be there.
We love and miss you!

Sending thoughts, love & strength to Chad´s family.
I remember Chad always smiling. Incredibly respectful and kind.
He would spend time at our childhood home from time to time, and we received our most beloved dog `Bo´ from the Reis Family. Loved that dog.
On behalf of the Bordenkircher Family, we sent our deepest condolences.

Oh Chad. First off I am so sad and as a parent, I cannot even imagine the hole in hearts you left behind. You were always a "fan favorite" at May Fair or any other event you went to growing up. Your charm could win any person over and your sincerity would leave them friends for life. Over the years I would run into you here and there in Dixon and it was always big hugs and 20 minutes of catch up. It was a welcome surprise for me each time. You will be missed by all that knew you. I hope you get to hunt and fish every day. I know that you will also keep an eye on things down here, because that is the guy you are. Much love goes out to your family with all the condolences I have in my heart.
Love, Sherry and Douglas Carpenter

I am one of the pool inspectors at UC Davis where Chad worked. I have had the pleasure of meeting Chad during many inspections over the years. When I first started in 2019 Chad came off very defensive about his pools on campus- specifically the pool chemistry. I thought man this guy is very serious about his pools ! We event took it to the point where for days we crossed checked eachother's test kits to see where the pool chemistry discrepancy was between my tests and his tests. He was ADAMENT his kit was correct. He did not let it go ! After days of going back and forth with him, I finally gave in and sent in my kit for recalibration. His response - see i told ya it wasn't my kit. LOL. Over the years we worked together more and more and i learned very quick that this guy is just super passionate about his pools and takes his job very seriously. I was always amazed at how much pool knowledge he posses. I commend him for that. That's one operator I wish we could see at all the pool facilities. He made campus pools safe for hundreds of students. It was a pleasure working with you Chad ! You will be missed.

I remember first meeting Chad at Texas Jack's in Vacaville. I met him through our good friend John Gardner. Many times we would run into each other at the Dixon May Fair, he was always smiling and laughing. He was always asking g if I wanted to go fishing with him, or come over for a fish fry. After just running into him in Davis recently, and meeting his Wife, he swore if I didn't bring the family over for a bbq/fish fry his feelings would be hurt. Now my feelings are hurt, having not made those plans. Rest Easy Chad, thanks for the laughs along the way. I will keep your Kids, Wife, and Family in my thoughts and prayers.
Till we meet again, we will have that fish fry. RIP brother.

So many memories with Chad out at yolo bowman. One memory I will hold in my heart forever is the celebration of life for my son Kyle a year and a half ago. Chad was there to support me through a very hard time, all of us outdoorsman stood around the fire pit and retold stories about hunting and fishing. Seeing how broke up I was Chad with his commanding voice and leadership qualities to charge of the event. For that trying time in my life I will always be great full. The world lost a great man love and will miss you Chad, your little buddy Luke

Chad and I met at the over passing on the green belt. He had his kids there and they were doing the "honk" sign to the big rigs. I thought it was amazing that a dad was out there having fun in the most pure way with his kids, and soon after that my kids and I began doing the same thing regularly.
When I had nobody, Chad showed up out of the blue in my life. He knew I was struggling and pulled me in. He was the older brother I never had. He helped me get sober which has allowed me to remain a part of my kids lives. I never told Chad I love him but I know he knew it. We would exchange funny videos and joke about the crazies in the world; no doubt we were part of that club! I'll never forget Chad. He didn't just help me to get sober. Chad taught me how to be a good friend.
Love you bro.

Hunting, fishing or smoking something on the smoker, every time I spent with Chad was my favorite memory. I´ll miss the times we had together, even though I´m his stepfather he treated me with love and respect and I called him son. I´ll love and miss him always.

When Chad lived on Victoria Drive in Dixon, we all shared many good times during our neighborhood gatherings, BBQs, etc. He was always good for an intriguing story about one of his many hunting and/or fishing trips. I considered Chad a good friend, but more importantly he was just one of those stand-up guys that everyone respected and admired. Chad was always welcoming and giving. He was loved and will be missed by all of us. My wife and I feel blessed to have known him...He will be sincerely missed by us...until we meet again.

Chad used to take me up to his ranch when I turned 12 years old. He was so determined to get me my first buck. After a LOT of missed shots, he stuck with me and finally calmed me down and as he always said "deep breath, don´t jerk the trigger" and boom. He taught me how to gut, skin, and butcher my first buck. The memories of all the hunting trips I was able to share with Chad and my dad are memories that I will not soon forget nor will I ever. He taught me how to embrace the outdoors and in his terms "be a man kid." He was the roughest, toughest guy I knew and I will live and cherish every memory for the rest of my days.
Live always and forever,
Your lil buddy Zack Barstad

Chad,
I've known your family for a long time, the funniest memory that I have with you was when you stayed at the house because we were all getting up early to go pheasant hunting. You and Bryan used to pick on me so much and when you fell asleep, I wanted to prank you. Jessica tried to talk me out of it cause we both knew you would absolutely kill us in the morning. You were sleeping on the couch, and I painted your face with green paint.
I don't know how you didn't wake up because I couldn't stop laughing the hole time and had to run out of the room several times. When you woke up in the morning you tried to get even by putting lotion in our hair. I woke up quickly, but you were able to get lotion in Jessicas hair.
You tried to clean the paint off your face, but it was still behind your ear when we were hunting, and I laughed and laughed.
You have always been around, always picked on me when I would see you around and have always made me laugh.
Rest easy and peacefully.
