MICHAEL MOSS Obituary

MICHAEL MOSS Beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend Michael (Mike) David Moss has gone to his heavenly home after he died unexpectedly in Pottsboro, Texas, on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on August 26, 1945, in Greenville, Pennsylvania to Nell Thompson Moss of Kingstree, South Carolina, and Silas F. Moss of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, Mike spent his childhood years in Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Mike graduated from Greenville High School in 1963 and played on the Varsity Golf Team. He then left Pennsylvania to study at Middle Tennessee State University, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a minor in Economics in 1971. Mike served honorably during the Vietnam War in the United States Army from February 1969 to February 1971 and was a proud veteran. He was assigned as a rifleman in Company C, 1st Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division's 8th Infantry. Mike was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Military Merit Medallion. Mike achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5. Upon returning from Vietnam and graduating from college, Mike began his career in sales and marketing with positions that took him all over the country. Mike came to North Texas in 1996 to work with his sister Lynell and her husband George Sarantakos at their company. Mike completed his career working more than a decade at MacroAir Fans company selling High Density Low Volume (HDLV) industrial fans. He retired in 2014. In Sherman, he found his community at the Grace United Methodist Church, where he arrived early every Sunday to attend his Sunday School class. Mike participated in mission trips to Guatemala and Louisiana, and volunteered countless hours with his Grace family. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Lynell Moss Sarantakos. Mike is survived by his brother, Bryan Thompson Moss and Bryan's wife, Carole King Moss; his sister Lucile "Lu" Moss Nelson and her husband, Joe, and their children; his nephew J Darryl Moss, J's children, Garett and Ashley, and J's wife, Liz; his niece Andrea Moss Ferrard and her husband, Sebastien, and their children, Alexander and Dani. Mike was an avid aviation enthusiast. He loved the Atlanta Braves and the Texas Rangers. Mike never met a stranger and always lifted everyone's spirits with his bright smile and kind heart. He was known by many and loved by all. A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas, later this year. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warriors Project, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Family Promise of Grayson County, Texas, or Grace United Methodist Church. www.vvmf.org www.woundedwarriorproject.org www.familypromisegrayson.org www.gracesherman.org

I have many fond memories of Mike, as part of our extended family Mike was at every family function he could manage. From pig pickings after Thanksgiving, to Fourth of July BBQs at my grandparents. He was always a pleasure to be with, positive and gracious person. I spoke with him recently, and we spoke of our faith in Christ, as I was recently baptiszed an OrthodoxChristian. As part of my morning prayers, I include him in my prayers for the departed. May his memory be eternal.

Mike was such a sweet man. He was always happy and would always stop to speak to us in the parking lot. He lived across from us. I still can´t believe he´s gone. He was just a very good person. We lost a good one

I met Mike through my father Phil Schneider. He has been friends with Mike since moving to Texas almost 20 years ago. He was a kind and helpful friend to my father before and after my father's companion passed away. He offered prayers and kept watch over my dad those dark days and shined his light upon my dad. I will be forever grateful to Mike for keeping watch over him as we(his family live in WI). May you rest in peace Mike. You are now home, with your Lord.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mike through him renting out my condo. I couldn´t have asked for a more reliable, friendly, respectful tenant. He was such a genuine man who taught me to enjoy the little things in life and to love God with all your heart. May his legacy live on forever!

I met Mike, as a professional to care for his feet and toenails. I am very happy I got to know him. Even though we saw each other only every few weeks, I truly cared for him. He was fun-loving and very kind. I will never forget him.

I was lucky to meet Mike through his niece, Andrea. He was always friendly and kind to me when we would see each other. I'm grateful for his service in a difficult time. Thanks be to God for his church family and their years of community and mission with one another. Love to his family and peace to all who mourn Mike's passing.
