Christine Rowe Obituary
On January 17, 2025, CHRISTINE ROWE, age 85, passed away peacefully and joined her savior, Jesus Christ, and her husband of 66 years, Flem Dennis Rowe, whom she was lost without. The days prior to her passing were filled with visits from family and friends who reminisced about precious times together.
Christine was born June 24, 1939, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Alberta Davidson of Wayne, West Virginia.
She is survived by her three children: Dennis Larry Rowe (JoAnne), Robin Rowe Creasy (Greg), and Mark Allen Rowe (Kristen); seven grandchildren: Kristina Zucchino (Paul), Bethany Bickerton (Zack), Jessica Vogt (Jimmy), Edwin Reyes (Ilgin), Ian Rowe (Grace), Allen "AJ" Rowe, and Andrew Rowe; nine great grandchildren: Sakinah, Ellie, Amir, Ethan, Aliyah, Evan, Ali, Otto, and Milo; and two sisters: Maxine Stephens and Minta Wooten. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings: Emma Davidson, Ada Wooten, and Eddy Ostice Davidson.
Christine Rowe was a devoted military wife for over 22 years, supporting her family during times of both war and peace, stateside and abroad. She used her gifts to shape the lives of so many people. Her love for children, especially babies, led her to develop a daycare and preschool at Eastwood Baptist Church in Huntington where she was "nana" to hundreds of children she adored. In addition to shaping young lives, her gift for hospitality impacted people of all ages. If you left her home hungry, it wasn't because she didn't try to feed you multiple times. She loved to gather around a table and provide treats she knew her people would enjoy.
Christine possessed a deep love for her family and church family. As she continues her journey in the arms of her savior, she leaves with us the greatest lessons: ask God to help you, always take up for the person who needs it most, be generous in your giving to others, fight for what is right, and love people by feeding them.
Christine's family would like to acknowledge the staff at The Village at Riverview in Barboursville for their exceptional care. The staff and the residents have truly become family.
They would also like to acknowledge her special friends Nalini Lakhani and Jean White, who helped her find hope and purpose in the hardest time of her life as well as the visitation team members from Lewis Memorial Baptist Church who have loved her and prayed for her continually.
Friends and family may visit Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 9 until 11 a,m., at Henson-Kitchen Mortuary in Barboursville, West Virginia, with service immediately following. Interment will be at White Chapel Cemetery in Barboursville, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, 5385 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, West Virginia, 25705. They will donate the funds to foreign and local mission projects close to Christine's heart.
