Stanley D. McAmis

Born: April 11, 1946 | Died: July 15, 2025

Stanley D. McAmis of the Doty's Chapel Community passed away Tuesday at the age of 79.

He was an avid outdoorsman and always took pride in his work, especially during his many years at Tusculum Monument Company.

Survivors include by a daughter: Lori (Tommy) Davis; a son: Wade (Daniece) McAmis; three grandsons: Kasey Shelton, Thomas (Jessie) Davis, and Reed McAmis; one granddaughter: Ada Kayte McAmis; two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Sadie Mae Shelton; former wife and mother of his children: Peggy McAmis; four sisters: Fredrica Armstrong, Anita Morelock, Judy Eidson, and Joyce Keanipfer; one brother: Dudley Stratton; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew: Scott McAmis.

He was a son of the late Luke and Velma McAmis and was preceded in death by four brothers: Luke McAmis Jr., Gene McAmis, Guy McAmis, and Phil McAmis; seven sisters: Irene Broyles, Barbara Hurd, Betty Pearson, Ruth Shelton, Ann Humphries, Phyllis Reynolds, and Linda McAmis.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 20th, at Doty's Chapel Church. The Rev. Nathan McAmis Reynolds and Pastor Wade McAmis will officiate. There will be no formal visitation.

The family wishes to thank his home caregivers, Mattie and Cheryl; the Amedisys Home Health Staff and Hospice care staff; and the entire staff at Laughlin Healthcare Center for all the care and support they provided.

Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
