Linda Fetzer Obituary

Linda Gayle Jones Fetzer, born on January 12, 1944, in Clewiston, Fla., passed away peacefully to be with God and her beloved family at the age of 74, at her residence in Greensboro, N.C. on March 11, 2018. Prior to residing in Greensboro, Linda brightened the cities of Hendersonville and Raleigh, NC. Linda grew up in Danville, Va. and graduated from George Washington High School after attending St. Anne's Episcopal Church School in Charlottesville, Va. Linda earned her Bachelor's Degree in English from Averett University before taking up what she felt was her most rewarding role in life that of Mother to her four beautiful girls. Later in life, Linda continued her education at Danville Community College, studying the emerging field of Data Processing which eventually led to a new career as a Systems Analyst. Linda loved dancing, acting, reading, writing, animals, playing bridge, giving gifts, proper etiquette, coffee, cigarettes, doughnuts, and colorful debates. She was predeceased by her father, Meriwether Lewis Jones; her mother, Annie Lois Gravely; her step-father, Fenton North Gravely, Sr.; her sister, Diane Lewis Jones; as well as her son, Robert Gilmer Dodson. Linda is survived by her sister, Lois Ann Gravely Simmons of Knoxville, Tenn.; her husband, Glenn and his children, Glenn, Matthew, Brian and their families; and her brother, Fenton North Gravely Jr. of Matthews, N.C., his wife, Deborah, their daughter, (her niece) Megan, and her husband, Mark Scala). She is also survived by her daughters, Donna Dodson Compton of Dallas, Texas, her husband, Chris and their daughters, Morgan and Taylor; Marti Dodson Nelson of Collinsville, Va., her husband, Ricky and their daughters, Megan, Carly, Erin, and Gracie; Jennifer Dodson-Kavovit of Studio City, Calif., her husband, Andrew and their children, Kiowa and Cash; and Jaime Dodson Blunt of Raleigh, N.C., her husband, Chad. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Townes Funeral Home, 215 W Main Street, Danville, VA 24541, phone: 434-793-1211, with a chapel service at 2 p.m. in the same location. A procession will immediately follow to Green Hill Cemetery, 761 Lee Street, Danville, VA 24540, for graveside services conducted by the Reverend Chad Blunt, Universal Life Church. Family and friends will meet for refreshments at the Courtyard by Marriott, 2136 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA 24540, following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your local SPCA, animal shelter, or the charity of your choice in the name of Linda Gayle Jones is greatly appreciated.
