Lucy Logrillo Obituary

LUCY LOGRILLO

Northampton, MA — Lucy (Maggiolino) Logrillo, a lifelong resident of Northampton, died peacefully on May 29th at the age of 96. She was the daughter of Mary and Leonardo Maggiolino who came to the United States from Bari, Italy in the early 1920's.

She attended Northampton Schools and graduated from Northampton High School in 1943 and in 1947 went on to marry Frank Logrillo, who also came from Italy as a young child.

After raising their two daughters, Lucy accepted employment at Wood and Strand Jewelers where she worked until her retirement. She could be seen daily walking to and from work on Main Street where she became a well-known figure, going home every day for lunch and a quick check on her aging parents.

Her favorite past times were shopping, cooking, baking, especially her amazing chocolate cream or lemon cream pies, which were always requested at the family holidays! She also enjoyed tending the many beds of flowers with scented roses being her specialty.

Lucy is pre-deceased by her husband Frank, her daughter Maria(Logrillo) Winninger, and her sister Grace (Maggiolino) Rosi.

She is survived by her daughter Diane LaValley and her husband Dennis of West Hatfield, her brother Leonard Maggiolino and his wife Phyllis of Easthampton, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service are private. There are no calling hours. Her family would like to suggest a contribution towards much needed Dementia research be made in her name at www.dementiasociety.org

My grandmother was not just an amazing woman, she was the most caring, thoughtful, and loving woman besides my mother that I have ever know. She lived an amazing life and she taught how others should care and love each other. I am truly blessed to be her grandson.
