Roy Kiker Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Kiker shares the news of his passing on June 23rd, at the age of 61. His great kindness and witty sense of humor will be missed by so many.
Roy is predeceased by his favorite dog, Shylo; his maternal grand-parents, John and Mamie Nix; his paternal grandparents,
Alvin and Bertha Kiker; his father, Alvin Wayne Kiker Sr.; and his brother, Alvin Wayne Kiker Jr. Roy's memory will be left to cherish by many, including his life partner, Shanna of the home; his daughters, Amanda Renea Kiker and Kylie Cheyenne Kiker; his granddaughter, Madilynn Nicole Lopez; his mom, Joanie S. Gilbert; his sister, Janie (Mark) McCutchen; a niece, Casey (Jason) Williamson; a nephew, Matt (Molly) McCutchen; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Roy was born June 15, 1961, in Portales, NM to Alvin Wayne Kiker Sr. and Joanie S. Nix. He was the youngest of 3 children, and everyone could tell. In his youth, Roy attended Portales and Dora Schools. He loved the summertime and being able to go swimming at the city pool often. As Roy entered young adulthood, he had many hobbies. At times, he could be considered
somewhat of a daredevil. He enjoyed bull riding, partying, traveling, snow skiing, water skiing, playing golf, and doing just about
anything he could do to get his hands dirty. He worked various jobs including at feed yards, doing construction work, repairing
mobile homes and many more.
Roy's true passion, however, was being behind the wheel of his 1999 Peterbilt 379. He considered his semi to be his baby, just as much as his daughters and granddaughter.
Roy's body has been cremated and the family will be having a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 9, 2022 beginning at 3:00 pm. The service will be located at Little Old Little New Venue, 1354 North Chicago, in Portales, NM. A reception and visitation with the family will follow immediately after the service.
