Cale DeHart Obituary

Cale Todd DeHart

1975 - 2023

- Our loved and larger than life husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Cale Todd DeHart, passed away Monday, November 20th 2023, in Riverton, Utah. Cale was a deeply loved friend to all. He was a people person and had a magnetic way of connecting with so many people he loved throughout his life. He was born on October 5, 1975 to Brian and Dawn DeHart in Salt Lake City, Utah. Cale spent his growing up years running around and causing trouble with his friends and family in Sandy, Utah. He graduated from Alta High School in 1994 and attended Dixie College where he played football for two years before he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chicago, Illinois. After returning home from his mission he married Dawn Uribe and moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota to play football for Northern State University. It was there in South Dakota where his daughter, Taygin MaRee DeHart, was born. He adored her. Upon graduation from Northern State with a degree in Computer Science, Cale returned home to Utah. In September of 2005 he met his sweetheart and "his bride" as he loved to call her, Michelle Vielstich and they were later married October 12th 2008 in American Fork Canyon. She was his loyal companion of 15 years and cared for him until the very end.

Cale worked in construction most of his life and started his own construction company, CTD Construction. He spent many years as a home builder and eventually found favor in excavation and has been excavating full time for the past couple years. He found great joy in his work and the lasting friendships it brought to him. Cale had a treasured relationship with his father, Brian. Together they built a home in Huntsville, Utah which they entered into the Parade of Homes in 2010. Cale cherished that time he spent building and learning with his dad.

He lived life full throttle. He was a man who loved to push the limits, lived for adventure and created fun memories for many. Cale loved sports. He was an accomplished athlete and participated in baseball, basketball and football throughout his earlier years and excelled greatly at them all. Everyone who knew Cale, knew he had an undying passion for the number 9. He particularly enjoyed watching and attending all his daughters sporting events, especially her track meets. He loved jeeping, white-water rafting, camping, boating and most of all, horseback riding. Cale was a true country man through and through. He had honor and integrity. Much of his time was spent on horseback with good friends, which memories he loved and cherished. He loved riding horses with his wife, Michelle and they developed a love for rodeo together. They traveled all around to attend rodeos together which he especially enjoyed.

We love you CTD #9, you will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Michelle; daughter Taygin; stepchildren, Cy, Taylor (Ali), Mackenzey; step-grandchildren, Charlotte, Samuel, Lucas; mother, Marilyn Dawn; brothers Thad (Rachel) DeHart, Tyler (Amy) DeHart, Clint DeHart; sisters Krislyn (Brad) Willden, ShaRee (Ian) Hartman. He was preceded in death by his father Brian and his horse Roni.

In 1998 I was missionary companions with Elder Cale, Todd DeHart. He truly was larger than life even at that time. It is funny obituary mentions the number nine. Because I do believe he did get that number tattooed on the inside of his lip, while a missionary. A truly unique claim to fame. But what I remember, the very most about elder Deheart is how much he really loved teaching the gospel. He was an amazing teacher. He had a naturally charismatic personality ans although many in the mission, thought of him as a rebel, I learned that label was not right. When I was with him, we worked hard, and he loved working hard. He clearly had been taught that by good parents. He was a good missionary and I´ll miss him. It is interesting that I just thought about him today and decided to google him, wondering where he was at and what he was doing it is sad for me to learn of his passing, of course. But I believe and think about him often and I know his spirit is very much alive. My thoughts and prayers go to his friends and family. Elder May
