Gary Allred Obituary

Gary Lynn Allred, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 05, 2024. Born in Asheboro, NC to Leonard Allred and Carolyn Lucas Allred.

Gary loved and served the Lord at Victory Church in Yorktown. He served his community as a York County Sheriff's Deputy for 15 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Poquoson Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Virginia State Firefighters Association as both President and Vice President. After retiring, Gary's passion was bowling and he prided himself in averaging games in the 300's.

Gary was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Deborah Allred; his two sons, Christopher Allred (Ashlyn) and Casey Allred; his step daughters, Heather Garner and Jessica Peiffer (Shawn); his grandchildren, Kamron Glauben, John Shaffer, Jr., Christopher Bohannon, Jr., Colbe Garner, and Bentley Allred; his brother, Leon Allred (Wanda); his niece, Stephanie Lanier (Brian) and great nephew, Levi Lanier.

Debbie and Family want to thank Heartland Hospice for all their love and support. Their personalized care for Gary and our family went above and beyond. We were truly blessed to have them on our team.

In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy be made in memory of Gary to the Alzheimer's Association, York County Sheriff's Office "Shop with a Sheriff" program, Poquoson Volunteer Fire Department, Victory Church, or Heartland Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Victory Church. A Reception will follow the service. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
