Joseph Mattiolo Obituary

Joseph Anthony Mattiolo
Joseph Anthony Mattiolo, 61, passed away on November 21, 2024. Born on January 3, 1963, in Brooklyn, NY to Anthony and Marie Mattiolo, Joe was a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT.
Joe was a bull in a China shop, but with a heart of gold. Never without an opinion, usually unsolicited, you always knew where he stood. Despite his rough exterior, Joe cared deeply for his family and friends. You could find him flipping houses and helping friends and family with remodeling and renovations. He could always be relied upon to install a faucet, fix your furnace, or for a fresh-caught, home-cooked meal. Joe's generosity was clear in his final act, helping to save three lives through the gift of organ donation. Joe was known for his love of boating, fishing, traveling and cooking. If he wasn't working on his boats, he was likely fishing around the world including Florida, Montauk, the Caribbean, and Panama. Above all, Joe fiercely loved his family and treated many friends as such.
His smile will be sadly missed by his mother, Marie, sister Karen Maniscalco and her husband Vince, brother Keith, Joe's partner Stacey Kane DiDio; his cherished nieces and nephews, Amanda Maniscalco and her husband Parker Postma, James Maniscalco, Siena, Caden and Blake Mattiolo. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony. Calling hours will occur at Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield, CT on Saturday, November 30th 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. Mass at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or CAST for kids.

Joe my friend, lover, confidant, my "Archie Bunker" and my personal bull in a China shop for sure. I cannot believe i am writing this it still doesn't seem real. I miss every ounce of you and i can't imagine this hurt going away. Thank you for introducing me to the boating life which i (we) loved. We sometimes looked like Sanford and Son with everything piled high but we wanted to bring it all!!!! I had mentioned to Joe before he got the bigger boat Joe i cannot stay on a boat 8 hours and not have a bathroom so we got a bigger boat with a bathroom, kitchen & sleeping area. But of course he looked high and low and researched the heck out of it and got the best deal. He as the best at that. I loved that boat. We had the best trips to to BI (where this past summer we saw tons of dophins), Montauk, Mystic, Waterford and right out in front of Penfield Beach. Always with a rod in hand to throw out a cast. He would always say theres nothing better than from the water to the pan (not sure if im quoting that correctly). I will never eat as good as when Joey cooked for me and he was the spice man & always had to put hot sauce on everything. I said please don't make mine spicey! We loved trying to find the best "Apizza" anywhere we went but nothing compared to Zupardi's. I thought it was the coolest thing that he was a snowbird and i would come and stay with him in Stuart FL. The cutest fishing town. He had such great friends picking up right where they left off the year befored. I had never even hear the phrase fish fry - they were the best. What a great group of people and of course they all loved Joey, the friend always willing to help everyone. I will end by saying Joe and I went on the most amazing trip to Europe. We visited his friends Orlando and Sue in Scotland. We both feel in love and then headed to Greece taking in the islands and Athens. Just an incredible trip spending 17 days together . I will forever treasure this amazing memory. We loved it so much that we were going to go back the same time next year. Not sure that will happen without you Joe it wont be the same. I love you and wont say goodbye i will say until i see you again.

Joe and my husband Steve worked together long ago in the elevator trade. Steve and I loved Joe top to bottom. We were blessed to snowmobile together, and they were some of the very best times we've ever had. The world lost an Angel. Joe was solid as a rock, had a rapier wit and that crooked smile. Joe reached out to Steve by text not long before he passed. He's devastated for your loss...we both want you to know we are praying for healing for you all.

I still remember the very first time. I saw Joe walking to a classroom at Fairfield Woods Junior high school. We became friends shortly after and have been ever since. My wife Nancy and I are devastated by his loss and his families and friends loss. Goodbye old friend. Thomas and Nancy Baratta.
