Erin M. (Anderson) Glenn "BOI"
Franklin, NH - Erin peacefully passed from this earth on December 23, 2023, at the Hospice House in Concord, New Hampshire after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on February 13, 1937, on Galveston Island, Texas to Edward and Fletcher James (Randolph) Anderson. Erin remained a proud Galvestonian, (a very proud BOI, aka Born on the Island), and a proud Texan, until the very end. She was also very proud of the fact that all four (4) of her grandchildren were also BOI's.
She grew up in Galveston, Texas and Forth Worth, Texas where she was active with the International Order of the Rainbow Girls, which teaches young women leadership through community service. And serve her community she did, for her entire life, in many ways. She attended Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business. While she was in college, at a Rainbow Girls' event, she met the love of her life, William P. "Powell" Glenn, Sr.. It was love at first sight and they were absolutely inseparable until his death in October of 2021.
Powell soon joined the Air Force and he and Erin, along with their children Bill and Tracy, would soon travel the world. Powell was serving his Nation and Erin was serving her family and the community in all that she did. They lived in international locations, like France, Korea and Okinawa, and in many different states such as Nebraska, Michigan, Louisiana, Virginia, Alabama, and Texas. They embraced every opportunity and culture they experienced. Erin loved being an Air Force wife and she was so proud to be the mother of her two amazing children, Bill and Tracy.
As well as working as a wife and mother, Erin also worked as an elementary school teacher, a job that she adored as she loved serving as a mentor to children of all ages. She also worked as an Office Manager at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She was a Master Gardener and a very talented artist, working in enamels and many other mediums. She was fearless in the kitchen and loved entertaining her family and friends, and feeding them well. She and Powell also had many feline fur babies over the years who brought them great joy.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 62 years, William Powell Glenn, Sr. who died in 2021, her son; William "Bill" Powell Glenn, Jr., Esq. in 2017 and granddaughter; Helen Stevens.
Her family includes her daughter; Tracy Glenn Stevens and her husband Mark, MD of Mills River, North Carolina, her daughter in law; Doryn D. Glenn of Galveston, Texas; her grandchildren; Michael Stevens of Cozumel, Mexico, and Bailey A. Glenn and Jackson P. Glenn of Galveston, Texas and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Erin's life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Onions Restaurant, 255 Main St., Tilton, New Hampshire. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, it was Erin's wish that you speak to a young person for an hour to share how things were different when you were their age. Donations in her memory may be made to the William P. "Bill" Glenn, Jr. Boy Scout Eagle Memorial Scholarship, First Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie, Galveston, Texas 77550, or the American Cancer Society in honor of Erin or her precious granddaughter, Helen Elizabeth Stevens.
