Kathy Schoenkopf Obituary

KATHY LYNN SCHOENKOPF
November 10, 1957 ˜ June 24, 2022

Kathy Lynn Schoenkopf, age 64, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on June 24, 2022, following her courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
Kathy was born Nov. 10, 1957, to Alf C. Barber and Cherie L. Barber in Medford, OR. Kathy was the oldest child of three. She dearly loved her younger brother, Alf, and sister, Teresa.
Kathy and high school sweetheart, Greg, have been happily married for over 44 years and share the sheer joy of being the proud parents to Ashley Cherie Schoenkopf (Karuza). Watching Ashley and husband, Matthew, start their family with 16-month-old, Colton Gregory Karuza, has been a blessing for both Kathy and Greg.
Kathy worked for the Battle Ground School District for over 20 years. Most of those years were spent as a reading instructor for young students. Kathy shared a mutual love with these young students along with the many amazing friends Kathy made at Glenwood Elementary School.
Kathy was loved, adored, and respected by all. She started every morning updating a list of who and how she could make others happier. Her passions were family, friends, reading, exercising, animals, the ocean, and music.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter, Ashley; grandson, Colton; father, Alf C.; brother, Alf D.; Alf’s children, Andrea, Ryan, Jake, and Mason; son-in-law, Matthew; sisters-in-law, Tina, Nancy, Sandee, Chris, and Sherry; brother-in-law Joel; stepsister, Sherri and stepbrother, Randy, and 21 nephews and nieces.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Cherie; sister, Teresa; stepmother, Lois; nephew, Aaron; nephew, Scott, stepsister, Cindy; and brothers-in-law, Bob & John.
Kathy’s kind and gentle spirit will be in our hearts and minds forever.
We will celebrate Kathy’s life on Sept. 17, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Lakeside Gardens, 16211 SE Foster Road, Portland, Oregon 97236

Greg, Ashley and family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. What a great lady she was. Kathy had such a sweet, kind and gentle spirit. I feel so honored to have gotten to work with her at Battle Ground in the Tirle I program and as a soccer momma. May your memories of all your years together bring you comfort and peace. Thoughts and prayers, Barry and Suzy

Awe, my sweet Aunt Kathy!
I have no words, you were and always have been the sweetest person I knew. You always sent me the best texts that would brighten my day. My Uncle was the luckiest man in the world to have found you and create such a beautiful life. It is my hope that Greg and Ash can get through this horrible grief. They say with great grief comes great love and great memories. Greg one day will realize how lucky he is that he had that kind of love RIP Kathy
