Margaret A. Solt, 77, of Pittston, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at Hospice of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, took God's hand and entered heaven's gate.
Born and raised in Jenkins Twp., April 18, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Sivahop.
Marge was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1964. She worked along with her husband of 39 years, Walter Solt Sr., who died May 4, 2008. Her husband, Walter, was the owner of Penn Creative Litho, Old Forge. She then went on to cook alongside her daughter, Linda and son-in-law, Charles, at their family business, Charlie B's Pub and Eatery, Plains Twp.
Marge enjoyed being with her family, going to Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun, coffee dates and cooking homemade foods. She enjoyed spending time with the customers at Charlie B's Pub. She was a tough, hardworking and honest and generous women. She never wanted any attention on her and would always ask how others were doing. To quote Marge, she could be heard giving this advice, "Never give up, no matter what life's obstacles come."
She married Walt in 1968 and had two children, Walter Jr., Swoyersville; and Linda and her husband, Charles Burke, Pittston; grandchildren, Brandi and her husband, who she called her grandson, Donny Sklanka; and Walter III and his wife, Kirstin; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Gavin Sklanka; and Johnathon and Xavier Solt; and nieces and nephews. Marge will be our family's fiercest guardian angel and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
