Norman Dybzinski Obituary

Norman Edward Dybzinski, friend to everyone he encountered and beloved father and grandfather, died on June 2, 2022 at the age of 74 in Florence, Alabama from complications related to a years-long battle with colon cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents and by the love of his life, Linda Dybzinski. Norm was born September 24, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ann and Raymond Dybzinski and attended Chanel High School. After graduating from Purdue University in 1969, he managed steel mills in Gary, Indiana. His uncompromising work ethic earned him a position at Morton Salt, where he worked his way up to Vice President of Finance. Norm was married to Carolyn Dybzinski between 1968 and 1984 and married Linda in 1986. He spent most of his adulthood in the Chicago suburbs and enjoyed a well-deserved early retirement devoted to golf, family, and summertime upkeep of the Northwoods Wisconsin cabin that had been Linda's dream. Norm is survived by his sister, Barbara (James) Riant, and her family in northern Alabama and by his son, Ray (Molly) Dybzinski, and step-daughters, Jamie (Jose) Morales and Melanie (Doug) Chesny, and their families in the Chicago area. He adored his grandchildren, Balo, Brandon, Cosmi, John, and Violet, and decorated his home lavishly with their photos and artwork. He will be deeply missed. A memorial celebration will be held July 17, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 at Norm's trusted home-away-from-home, the Lake Zurich Holiday Inn Express (197 S Rand Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047) where he stayed for week-long layovers when he traveled back and forth between Wisconsin and Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Norm's charity of choice, Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
