William Hassinger Obituary

William A. Hassinger

February 24, 1931 - November 30, 2023

Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - William A. "Bill" Hassinger, 92, of Bellefonte, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his home. Born on February 24, 1931, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late William K. and Margaret M. (Kerfoot) Hassinger. On June 10, 1955, in Bellefonte, he married Charlotte A. "Peggy" Spencer, who survives at home.

Bill graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1949. After high school he enlisted with the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army and continued to serve in the National Guard for a total of 18 years of service. He later became the owner and operator of his own company, Hassinger Plumbing and Heating, for many years.

Bill was a member of the Runville United Methodist Church. He took part in a mission trip to Venezuela, where he humbly served the Lord and helped those in need. He was a generous man and a man of service. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #268 in Bellefonte, where he served as a Past Master. He enjoyed spending time woodworking and being outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. He loved his family, but his grandchildren were the center of his universe. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Peggy, Bill is survived by his son, Kenneth D. Hassinger and his wife, Julie, of Bellefonte; his daughter, Karen A. Reese and her husband, Dennis, of Bellefonte; four grandchildren, Ella Reese (Kalan McEuen), Anne Maddox (Justin), Colleen Reese (Sean Woodward) and Emily Otto (Andrew); and 14 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Ernest, and Donald. He was the last of his generation.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 10am – 11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Milesburg. A Masonic Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Funeral services will immediately follow the conclusion of the Masonic service with Rev. Richard Robinson officiating.
