Margaret Pyles Obituary

Margaret Rae (Baker) Pyles, age 69, of Gettysburg, PA, passed on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Gettysburg Hospital. Born June 2, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Marcus George and Thelma Pauline (Anders) Baker. She was the beloved companion of the late Robert "Bob" Thompson. Margaret's greatest loves were Bob, Marcus, her family and her church. She had a great love for the world and was selfless in her willingness to help anyone. She lived in the Taneytown area her entire life, graduating from FSK High School Class of 1972. Margaret worked in customer service with Carefirst BlueCross Blue Shield for over thirty years. She was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Taneytown and worked tirelessly in church ministries, having served on the Council, numerous committees, taught Sunday Church School and was a youth group leader. Most recently she helped with the meal service provided as part of the church's Mission of Mercy Ministry. She had many wonderful friends at Trinity whom she loved to spend time with as they gathered regularly for luncheons or just to have fun. Surviving are a son, Marcus Thompson and significant other Destiny Fales and her children; sisters, Arlene Weeks and husband Arnold, "Jr", Marcia Baker; niece Tina Hartlaub and husband Todd; nephew Eddy Weeks and wife Danielle; one great niece, five great nephews, one great-great niece and four great-great nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Marcus and Thelma; and sister, Mary Alice Baker; and her beloved Bob. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10-12 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
