Clarence Carter Cochran, known as Carter, 90 years old, of Edgewater, Maryland, died peacefully at home from renal failure on the 23rd of June. He was born in 1932 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Clarence Carter Cochran and Ethel Thayer Cochran. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Commerce and Technology from the University of Wyoming in 1954. He went to San Juan, Puerto Rico as Administrative Officer for the Caribbean Area. He was promoted to go to Washington, D.C. where he served with distinction in the Soil Conservation Service administration. As a youth, Carter worked for his father in his house building business. He got pleasure from riding and caring for his horse, Reno, from the Red Desert. Carter enjoyed coaching his son's and daughter's sports teams for several years. In retirement Carter developed an organic mushroom-growing business, producing shiitake mushrooms for sale to restaurants and farmers' markets. Carter was known for his genial disposition and quiet humor. He was a member of Kiwanis International and played cards every week with a neighborhood group. I will miss my Brother-In-Law so very much. Our families had many wonderful Holidays together especially when the children were young. Several times a year my sister, Susan & Carter would come to visit here in Vermont. He was great person to have around!
