Jay Pohlman Obituary

Pohlman, Jay A.

Nov 30, 1954 - Oct 20, 2024

Of Orchard Park, NY. Beloved husband of Holly (nee Clement) for 44 years; loving father of Michael (Katie), Lindsay, and Andrew; devoted grandfather "Papa Jay" of Jack and Miles; cherished brother of Mark, Joanne, Gary (Amy) and Richard (Cathy); caring uncle of Robert (Emma), Christopher, David, Bradley, Brooke, Katie and Tyler Pohlman, and Austin and Ryan Metcalfe. Also survived by many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will be present on Monday, October 28th at the F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 E. Quaker Street, Orchard Park, NY, from 3 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend a service honoring Jay's life on Tuesday, October 29th at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 4536 S. Buffalo Street, Orchard Park, NY. Jay received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1980 from Valparaiso University School of Law and never looked back. He loved his job and genuinely cared about his clients right up until the end. He also devoted many hours to various boards and committees that were close to his heart including the Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation, Camp Pioneer, and the Lutheran Service Society. Jay was a wonderful family man and truly valued every minute he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren, especially their annual vacations to the Finger Lakes. Jay loved playing sports, especially soccer which he excelled at, and golf (which he was still working on). He loved going to Crag Burn and always looked forward to his yearly golf trip with his Theta Chi buddies. He often mentioned how blessed he felt to have so many amazing friends in every aspect of his life. Jay was able to make just about anybody laugh and he will be remembered for his quick wit and his kindness. Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., or the Niagara Lutheran Health Care System. I am terribly sorry to have just learned of Jay's passing. My deepest condolences to Holly and his family. I worked with Jay for a number of years in connection with Camp Pioneer. He was a wise and decent man and a tremendous servant to the camp. Rest in Peace, Jay.

Jay was the kindest, smartest Man I knew. I am so deeply saddened by just learning of his passing. He helped me many times - when ever I needed guidance, a kind word, or just that "Father" voice of advise. Lindsay and entire family I feel this loss to my soul. Many Prayers to all of you.

I am sadden to hear about the Jay's passing and hearing so late. I used to assist with Jay's banking and over the years got to know Jay. After moving into a new career I was able to connect with Jay for the purchase and sale of my home and introduced him to my parents to assist them as well. I have nothing but heartfelt words for Jay. Such a kind soul and wit as stated. I am truly sadden of his passing, again, such a kind soul he will be missed.

I had the privilege of working (opposing) Jay during the past 30+ years. I can speak for myself, and other attorneys, and say that Jay was a true gentleman, a great attorney, and an all around great person. I was saddened to learn of his passing. Our loss is Heaven's gain. My sincere condolences to Jay's family. Richard Slisz

We had the privilege of knowing Jay through a personal matter. We also know if we had more time to spend with Jay, we would have become very good friends because he was just that kind of person. May God bless his family throughout this time and after.

Initially, I was upset with Jay. I wanted to say "see ya!", & give him a peck on the cheek. Jay was a kind & gentle friend. He had a wonderful outlook on things that concerned me. He helped me put it all together. What great guy. XXOO

So sad to hear of Jay´s passing. I met Jay in the early 90´s thru his uncle, Doug Lang, who I worked with. Always a wry smile and professional. Both our kids went to law school which we were both proud of. We were also cancer warriors and were able to share our stories. I look forward to seeing him again and also hearing "well done my good & faithful servant".
