Bellingham , Washington - Edward W. Sims, age 84, passed away in Bellingham, WA on March 18, 2022. He was born on August 13, 1937, to Harold Weldon and Mima Sims in Bellingham. Ed married Eleanor R. Delvendahl in Bellingham on February 20, 1960. Together for 62-years, they had 3 sons, 3 grandsons, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed grew up on the family farm before he became a beef farmer on his own. He instilled his tremendous work ethic to his sons, who helped raise cattle with their father. Ed loved teaching his sons the mechanics of the farm, and always went out of his way to provide them with the necessary tools to learn and be successful. Ed cherished the times he spent with his sons, whether it was fishing or watching them participate in sports and other activities at Meridian High School, Ed also graduated from Meridian in 1955. After retiring from Georgia Pacific where he had been a millwright for 43 years, Ed enjoyed farming, and attending machine and cattle auctions. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Mima, his brother Jack, and his sisters Esther and Eleanor E. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, and his three sons: Ivan E. Sims, William A. Sims (Mary), and Frank E. Sims (Lisa). In memory of Ed, donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice Foundation.
