May God grant peace and comfort to all who love her.
Judy and I were friends for almost 50 years. She was my first friend in the DMV.
We had many fun times at my house and hers. We shared a love for family, friends, food and fashion.
I will miss her very much and I am so happy for the years we shared as friends.

I'm writing my remembrances of Judy Brodsky, my friend who lied about her age to obtain a job in a well known department store's Junior Department. As a successful sales person, she was promoted to store buyer. she traveled extensively to include a trip to the Levi Corp where she convinced them if they made jeans for Junior girls they would sell! She even made the initial pattern to convince them this would not be to hard to do. This resonated with me because my first jeans were purchased from a boy's department. Quite an accomplishment for any woman 70 years ago. She was a leader in the women's early liberation movement! Judy eventually established her own brand, Rosie Tomato, sold in her own Georgetown DC store. I've been with her when prior customers approached her to reintroduce themselves. Judy was simply larger than life! Her store closed, and her brother-in-law encouraged her to use her background to open an employment business. Eventually, her same caring brother pointed out that she had no retirement plan and encouraged her to apply for a government job. And this is where we met briefly on a business matter. We road the same metro train and Judy reintroduced herself there, invited me to join her for lunch, the rest is history, Judy was kind, thoughtful, and caring. And , she of course, like all of us, could be loud and demanding at times. Undoubtedly the very traits that made her successful. We both grew up in the same general locale, we're both near the same age, and definitely "Bohemian." God bless you Judy, may you rest peacefully and be forever remembered as the very successful woman who made a real difference in life and was and is clearly remembered. Instead of flowers, I will be purchasing one of your brand name fashions to wear and remember you always.

Judy had such a love of life. She loved her nieces and nephews, all of her family and friends. She enjoyed good food and all of the simple pleasures of life, such as getting together with her friends for as long as she could. She loved her Mom and Dad, whom she admired for their goodness. She loved being an aunt and was so proud of all of her nieces and nephews. She was full of praise for her friends and for those who helped her as her health declined. We were friends for 50 years and I feel so blessed to have known her. I will miss her and our very regular telephone conversations that kept our friendship current and close. I send my condolences to her family and friends, whom she loved dearly.

I met Judy when I was so, so young. And she definitely showed me how endless curiosity, deep humor, and a love of what's new, changing and challenging have no age requirements. Judy taught me more than she knew. And she introduced me her niece, Karen - who became and remains one of my dearest friends. A gift beyond measure.
