Clifford Kimsey Obituary
KIMSEY, III, Clifford "Bucky" Clay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clifford "Bucky" Clay Kimsey III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on November 22, 1948, in Lawrence, Kansas, to the late Clifford Kimsey, Jr. and Lucille Stivers Kimsey, Bucky left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Bucky's journey began in elementary school, where he first met the love of his life, Constance, affectionately known as Connie. In sixth grade, Bucky and Connie found themselves in the same dance class, where they danced exclusively with one another. The teacher scolded Bucky for not pairing up with others, telling him, "You won't be dancing with Connie for the rest of your life." Determined to prove the teacher wrong, their love only deepened over the years, leading to a 59-year marriage filled with joy. As lifelong partners, they built a life rich in love and laughter, from chasing Connie around the playground in their youth to supporting each other through life's many adventures. They remained each other's dance partners until the very end.
A proud alumnus of the University of Georgia, Bucky walked on to the UGA football team and lettered in his senior season. He took great pride in participating for four years as a walk-on and played against a great Nebraska team in the 1969 Sun Bowl.
Bucky was a member of the Habersham County Football Hall of Fame, the Ring of Honor. He was also a member of the University of Georgia Chapter of the Gridiron Secret Society. Bucky also established the Cliff and Lucy Kimsey Family Scholarship at the University of Georgia and was the major contributor to the Fund.
Bucky enjoyed life - whether it was athletics, or music, or movies. He was enthralled with the Rolling Stones, and his recent concert experience with the Stones in June brought immense joy. He loved the Beatles and Neil Diamond, one of his favorite songs, "The Story of My Life" encapsulated his journey - a life rich with love, family, and unforgettable memories.
Bucky worked in the banking, finance and lobbying business for over 50 years, starting with Trust Company and including Bank South, Bank of America, and the last 25 years with Raymond James as Senior Vice President of Public Finance.
Bucky is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Kimsey; his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Bob Lussier, Melissa and Rob Russell, Alex Kimsey and Corey Meyer; grandsons, Carson Russell, Shane Lussier, Henry Russell, and Brody Lussier; sister, Lucy Kimsey; brothers and sister-in-law, John Kimsey and Julie Chapman, Jimmy and Lisa Kimsey; and brother, Ricky Kimsey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Cliff and Lucy Kimsey Family Scholarship (UGA Donor Relations, Milledge Center, 394 Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30602, Pay to: Cliff and Lucy Kimsey Family Scholarship) or Agape Hospice Care of Northeast Georgia.

The family invites everyone who knew and loved Bucky to join them in honoring his remarkable life and legacy. Consider donning your finest red and black attire to celebrate Bucky's love of UGA.
