B. Moore Obituary

MOORE, B. Glenn

Mr. B. Glenn Moore, age 82, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Glenn was born on July 9, 1943 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Baxter Glenn Moore Sr. and Lucille Wayne Barrett.

His wife of 35 years, Dorothy A. Moore, was with him as he passed in the most quiet and peaceful way. He was comfortable leaving this world as he had such faith and hope in a new life in Heaven with Our Lord.

Glenn attended Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati, OH and then moved on to earn a Business Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. After graduating, he worked for General Motors. He traveled the country recruiting and challenging young high school students to study and work in the auto industry. He then continued his education again at Indiana University where he graduated with an MBA from the Kelley Graduate School of Business.

In 1968, Glenn enlisted in the US Navy until 1973. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI as an Ensign and was assigned to the NASA Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. He served almost all 5 years of his enlistment at this NASA location. This was one of the highlights of his young career.

After his honorable discharge from the US Navy as a Lt., Glenn began his sales career in the chemical industry with Monsanto and then with Kerr-McGee Chemical in Oklahoma City, OK traveling the Southeast US and up into PA. He covered a variety of chemical products, with the aluminum industry as his main focus. He retired from Kerr-McGee around 2002 and had a full life since despite his illness.

Glenn loved golf and often took his clients out for a round or attended a charity event. We took all three kids out for 18 holes on many Saturdays. As his Parkinson's progressed and he really could not play he still went to the driving range and would exercise for an hour to keep himself limber for as long as he could. When he could no longer swing a club or stand, he was our coach as he rode the entire course spurring us on from the golf cart.

He stopped driving fairly early on upon the recommendation of his Neurologist, but that did not stop him from dreaming up our next vacation. Our international travel was over, but while Glenn recuperated in bed from one of his recent calamities, he would start mapping out our next venture in his beloved Morgans. He always kept it a surprise from me, so we would take off with the 3-ring binder he created and head out across the country, north to Canada or the Maritime Provinces with me driving. I would only look at that day's map, keeping up the suspense of where we were eventually headed.

We have visited all 50 states and so many National Parks, all the way up to Olympic National Park in Washington State. I gave myself the title of "Hunter/Gatherer" on these multi-week trips, as I would often let him rest in our room and I would begin the evening hunt for a decent dinner.

When we sadly sold his Morgan Roadster, we still went on long trips in our Toyota van with one seat for me as the driver and a ramp for Glenn to enter with his wheelchair. He had control of the audio choices, but sometimes the quiet silence of the forests, plains, mountains and vistas were enough for our souls to soar.

We stayed active in the MOGSouth Group for many years, going to many of their get-togethers across the Southeast. It was still much of our social life even when we no longer had a Morgan. The get-togethers were with old friends and they were always welcoming.

Glenn was also a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta, GA, a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, member of the Parkinson's Foundation, and a member of Morgan Classic Car Group, "MOGSouth" here in Atlanta.

Glenn is survived by his son, Gregory T. Moore (Anna Jacobson) of Atlanta; his daughter, Dr. Suzanne E. Kingery (Ryan) of Prospect, KY; and his stepson, Edward A. McInerney of Alpharetta, GA.

He was a loving PapaG to his 14-year-old twin granddaughters, Cara and Lauren Kingery.

Along with his children and grandchildren he is survived by his brother, Patrick Moore (Barbara) of Garden City, NY and Vero Beach, FL; nieces; Sarah (Laurie), and Anne; sister, Janet Schmitt of Royal Oak, MI (Tony, Sr. Deceased); nephews, Steve (Kathy), Tony, Jr. (Christine); and niece, Vickie. All have made this long road for Glenn easier with their visits, care and attention.

The courage, patience, and resilience Glenn showed to all of us all as he worked diligently with his doctors, nurses, therapists, hospice and aides to stay as independent as possible for as many years as he did have been a shining example for us all to live the best quality of life we are able to, for as long as our bodies will allow.

Dr. Mario Ravry took such good care for Glenn with all the early help Glenn needed. The Emory Brain Health Center with all the doctors in the Parkinson's domain, especially Orla, NP, for her extra doses of wisdom and kindness. A gigantic thank you to all our in-home hospice nurses, Karina R. and Brooke B., his aide, Janice P., social worker, Liz, chaplain, KK, and volunteers, Nairobi H. and Janice M. Jill J. of Mindful Transitions was a very welcome sounding board every week, thank you for your caring and love. You are all amazing, including all the backup nurses and aides. The hospice team was so wise and generous with their time to help Glenn. I pray we will be friends for a life time. Our aides from Embracing Hearts, Quanetta, and Home Helpers, Ashley, were also critical to Glenn's care. Thank you so much for all the work you both took on to make Glenn's life more comfortable and mine more relaxed.

I thank all the Clergy, Deacons, and staff at St. Thomas Aquinas who were so prayerfully loving to both of us, and the parishioners who kept food, visits, emails, phone calls and such kind words coming to us for years. Glenn and I rejoiced in all your kindnesses and prayers. Thank you, you have been the Face of God in our lives.

His decades with Parkinson's showed the amazing strength he had as he stayed loving, kind, and still creative with all his electronics. He will be missed.
