My wife Bobbi and I are in deep mourning over the loss of our Beloved Rabbi and friend Alvin Sugarman. I first got to know him in 69' when he and Rabbi Rothschild, of Blessed memory, were teaching our confirmation class. He was such a wise and witty teacher. He performed the conversion of my then fiance in 71' and 72' while I was away in the Navy. He married Bobbi and I in 1973 at the Temple. He presided over all our family life cycle events over the years. Several times we sought his wise counsel.
In Sept. 2023 Bobbi and I attended a Shabbat Service at the Temple and received prayers commemorating our 50th Anniversary. He physically could not attend that service but called us the next night and we shared fond memories of our wedding.
He leaves such a void in our life and his memory will always be a blessing to us. Our prayers go out to his family.
B'Shalom,
Michael and Bobbi Serra

Alvin had a heart of gold and the patience of a giant. Our family adored him and he loved us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family who he loved very much. He was a good honest soul.
