Arlene Edwards Obituary


Arlene Francis (Rafanan) Edwards, 70, died on March 22, 2022, at home with her family by her side. Arlene was born on June 17, 1951, in Sacramento, CA.

Arlene attended schools in Live Oak, CA, and graduated from Live Oak High School. She went on to attend Chico State where she received a B.A. in education.

Arlene is survived by her four sisters and one brother, Alice Howton, Anita Moodey, Marianne Saldanam, Marcelo Asuncion, and Marsha Ley; son, Jimmy Filter (Jennifer), grandsons, Dillon, Logan, and Carter Filter, and great-granddaughter, Illiana Filter; son, John Edwards (Bonnie), and granddaughters, Christian and Sophia Edwards; and husband, Jim Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mariano Rafanan; stepfather, Marcelo Asuncion; mother, Iva Asuncion; sister, Shirly Rightnour; and brother, Tom Rafanan.

Arlene started at Pacific Gas and Electric in environmental conservation, went to meter readings where she became a union shop steward with the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers (IBEW). She then went to the Pacific Gas and Electric call center; she was on IBEWs 1245's advisory council. She was offered a job with 1245 as a Business Representative and retired as an Assistant Business Manager.

Arlene was loved, respected and will be missed very much.

Per her request, no services will be held.

Arlene and I grew up together in Live Oak. Went to school together and graduated the same year. I have very few childhood memories which Arlene is not a part of. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of her family

We were so sorry to hear of Arlene´s passing. God bless your family as you mourn and miss her. We had not seen Arlene for years but she was such a good friend in high school and was actually in our wedding! So smart, beautiful and fun loving! I know you will miss her greatly.
