Michael Hagenow Obituary

Michael John Hagenow

Michael John

Hagenow passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022, in Minneapolis, MN. Those who knew him will remember him for his brilliant conversation, intelligence, empathy, sense of humor, and commitment to service. He had a keen eye for beauty in art and everyday life.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, John, and is survived by his mother, Joyce, sister, Erin, brother-in-law, Glenn

Nicol, nephews, Orion and Everett Nicol, and beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael was ordained as an ELCA pastor in 2007 and led churches in Clairemont, CA, and Coronado, CA. Michael provided support and peace to many during his time in the clergy. He was a beautiful orator and his sermons were known for their passion and grounding in theology. After leaving the church, Michael continued to support others in their life journeys.

Michael was taken too soon and will be deeply missed by those who loved him. He had a fierce independence and drive to achieve whatever he put his mind to. For those closest to him, we will take with us the memory of Michael's intelligence, kindness and great laugh.

Michael's memorial service will be held Friday, June 10th, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Services

(lirs.org).

I am so very sorry to hear of Michael's passing. I was a friend of his going back to middle school in the Tinley Park Illinois area and have very fond memories of our time together. I am sorry I lost touch, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear Joyce, Erin and family- I knew and loved Michael when we were both at LSTC. We had so much fun together. I was a divorcee and he was, well- a whole lotta fun. We found adventure together in going out for brunch (one of our favorite things to do) and cleaning and painting a professor´s apartment. I loved him. He was like a younger brother to me. He was whip-smart, had a huge heart and loved everyone- just like Jesus. I have some guilt for not knowing him in the last 10 years, but I wanted you all to know that he made a huge difference in my life and I will always remember him for giving a damn. I´m thinking of you all with love and can´t imagine both the profound loss and peace you must feel.

My sympathy goes out to the family of Michael! In my eyes Mike always intelligent young boy! When my kids were born and Michael was about eight years old he would hold my newborn babies! Michael had a lot of humor then! I remember Michael as a happy boy! I will treasure the pictures of you thanking of you while you´re in heaven!
