Cheryl CAMPBELL Memoriam

CAMPBELL
Cheryl
Cheryl Campbell was 49 when she died in San Francisco on September 11, 2024, surrounded by friends and family who love and miss her so very much.
As a kid, Cheryl moved with her family from Canada to settle in Bakersfield,
California. Supersmart, she won spelling bees, graduated valedictorian, and studied at Cornell. Cheryl always hit different, a female golfer who drove from the men's tees, a woman developer in a male-dominated tech industry, a free spirit who worked in Amsterdam then travelled the world.
Cheryl lived to help others: saving endangered turtles in Guatemala, educating impoverished children in Malawi, tackling deforestation in Uganda and supporting school communities back home. She also loved to explore the 7 continents, encountering gorillas on jungle-clad volcanos, dodging icebergs in Antarctica, riding across dusty Mongolian steppes, communing with giant manta rays in the blue ocean.
Beyond her achievements and adventures, the real mark of Cheryl was the playful twinkle in her eye, that uproarious, infectious laugh, the stubborn refusal to let the smallest thing be 'good enough' if it could be great, always thinking the best of others and finding ways to lift them up. And, of course, a deep and enduring love of both volleyball and hot tubs!
Her warm, kind spirit also made Cheryl such a natural mother and in the end, her greatest gift and legacy are her incredible children — Maxwell, Zoe and Daisy.
We wanted more, but what we got
was magical.
Thank you Cheryl.

Cheryl was best friends with my daughter Colleen. The became friends in junior high and remained good friends throughout out her adult life. I knew Cheryl was accomplished, but was unaware of the magical adventures in her life. I remember the two of them as we drove Cheryl to Bakersfield High School almost everyday. I was devastated to get Colleen´s email sharing Cheryl´s passing. Colleen was always happy when she and Cheryl could connect. I will always remember her as a calm, special presence when visiting us. RIP Cheryl. You were always loved. Colleen bragged about Cheryl and her accomplishments through the years. We miss you Cheryl

Missing Cheryl so much in our volleyball league. Her cheers, laughter, and the way she brought women together will always stick with me. It just feels different without her on the court. I know her family will carry her light, humor, and strength forward - that´s such a beautiful part of who she was. Holding onto her memory with love.
