Betty Reid Obituary

Betty Jean Reid
July 29, 1933 - June 12, 2025
Betty Jean Reid, 91, of Silverdale, WA, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. She was born on July 29, 1933, in Wenatchee, WA, to John and Minnie, and grew up surrounded by the beauty of Central Washington a place she would always call home.
For nearly 50 years, Betty dedicated her talents and compassion to the medical industry, touching countless lives with her steady hands and kind heart. Outside of work, she embraced adventure, earning her license as a private pilot and spending more than 500 hours exploring the skies. She especially treasured summers and long weekends at the family's lake house on Lake Chelan, where laughter, love, and the scent of fresh air filled her days.
Betty had a deep love for the land and the water. She delighted in growing and harvesting vegetables of every kind, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, clamming, and oystering. She raised small farm animals especially chickens, her favorite and found joy in cooking meals with fresh vegetables and eggs from her own backyard. Betty generously shared her knowledge with others, teaching the skills of canning, freezing, and preserving fruit and vegetables so the harvest could be enjoyed year-round.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Norman Reid; her sons, Brian, Kenneth, Bradley, and Steven; her adopted daughter, Shauna; and her grandchildren, Madison, Sierra, David, and Marisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie, and her brothers, Floyd and Robert.
A memorial service will be held on October 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wenatchee, WA. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
Betty will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her generosity, and her unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her hands were always busy, her heart always open, and her life an example of love in action.
