With much sadness I write this message. When I first left school at the age of 16 Mr Gallaway gave me the office junior position at Gallaway Son & Chettleburgh. He was a wonderful kind boss and I enjoyed 4 years there before leaving for Auckland when I was married. If I ever saw Mr Gallaway in the streets of Dunedin he would remember me and ask how I was. Such a gentleman. My condolences to his family.

Sending so much love to this wonderful family. What a truly lovely man he was, as evidenced in the many, MANY unfailingly positive memories being shared. A great life, well lived x

To the family, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss of Iain. What an exceptional and extraordinary, but modest man. He was the voice of sport throughout my life and what a magnificent voice he had like an aged Port wine. The career and varied roles that Iain had throughout a long lifetime were carried out with aplomb. A wonderful New Zealander has lived his life on earth may he rest in paradise.

We often hear the phrase a great New Zealander. But it is most certainly true for Iain Gallaway. It's doubtful such a beautiful, clearer voice has ever been heard in New Zealand sport. He is an inspiration to any budding broadcaster. Thank you. May the Angels lead you into Paradise, Mr Gallaway.
