I met Alan long ago playing Go in Christchurch, a game he was passionate about. He has really helped me to fall in love with the game again.

May he rest in peace

I met Alan long ago playing Go, a game he was passionate about. The last few years Alan has been running the Christchurch Go club and assisting with the NZ Go society organisation. I've enjoyed knowing Alan, he's always been cheerful, helpful, positive, sensible - a great guy. We met and played a game last December when I spent a couple of days in Christchurch with my family. Alan won, but he let me 'win' the post game analysis. Thanks for everything Alan, I'll miss you.

We have lost a beautiful soul. 48 years of friendship and my heart is broken. You were in every chapter of my life story. Tears have fallen like southerly rain on a tramping hut roof old buddy. We have stood on mountain tops. We have swum in frozen mountain lakes. We have braved snow storms and sheltered in caves. We have feasted like kings in the wilderness. Always with a cheeky grin.

I shall hold close those days forever.

May the highscore on Defender always show ARG
Your mate forever YZZ
