STEEL, Leo James:
Our dearest and most loved dad passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, 16 May, 2020. Dad lived and loved every day of his life. He was so vibrant at the young age of 91, we thought he would live forever.
Dad was a saint that walked this earth and now it is time for him to rest with his Lord.
He was a loved husband and best friend of the late June and the late Val. Most loving dad and father-in-law of Dave and Kathleen, Greg and Kathy, Julie and Pete Adamson, Kath, and Andy and Anna. Adored and treasured, little granddad, grandpa and Poppy of Christopher, Olivia, Daniel and Charlotte; Matthew and Nicole; Ryan, Maton and Piper; Riley, Finn, Archie and Grady.

To Kath, feeling your grief and knowing your pain having lost my Leo too. The greater the love, the greater the pain for sure. Your dad was right, is right. Sometimes the pain is unendurable and yet we endure. His love is not lost with his passing. It is in his sayings, his jokes, his quotes, his wise words and quirks that fill your memory. He loved you so so much.

Leo, June and kids were great neighbours in Suva St of the Johnston family. I always held him in the highest esteem and had great respect for his integrity, sincerity, compassion and opinion. Rest in peace Leo, you were a great human being. Sincerest of condolences to the family. Selwyn Johnston, Launceston, Tasmania.

STEEL, Leo James:
My dad, my friend, my hero, my everything. I love you dad, I’m grateful for so much, but most of all I’m grateful I am your daughter. I will carry you with me in all I do. You used to say the greater the love the greater the pain, well dad, I’m going to hurt forever. With a heart full of love, your Kath and her bears, and your very own Orla bear.
