Vernetta Mae Majors, 71, of West Chester, Pennsylvania entered eternal rest on July 26, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1950, to the late John Richard Tate, Jr. and Mildred Grady Tate in Wilmington, North Carolina. At a young age, Vernetta and her family relocated to Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
Vernetta was a graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School. She then went on to Cheyney University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. In later years she attended Community College of Philadelphia and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Vernetta was employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Coatesville, Pennsylvania for 33 years. After her retirement from the VA Medical Center, she was employed by Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Adult Services in Berwyn, Pennsylvania for 15 years. She enjoyed providing care to the adults in both facilities.
Vernetta was a member of Christian Faith Fellowship, Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
Vernetta enjoyed singing especially Christmas carols, listening to music, attending concerts, and watching foreign movies. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and was known as “Aunt Edo”. She was known to sing songs with her nieces and nephews that they have remembered as they have grown older. She also enjoyed spending time with her only daughter Danielle. They enjoyed vacations, concerts, and many other activities together.
Vernetta leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Danielle Marie Majors of West Chester, Pennsylvania; her brother John Milton Tate (Donna) of Coatesville, Pennsylvania; her sister Dorothy Rainey (Edward) of Conyers, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her sisters Joyce Hodges and Linda Miller.
