Linus was my Uncle Stan's brother, but, we had the good fortune of living a block away from him. He would visit with my parents, Fred and Bette, and I was always struck by what a gentle soul he was. I always felt he listened intently not only with his ears but also, with his kind eyes. What I liked best about Linus was this. He liked to be part of a solution. My Dad would call him (usually about a car problem or something that needed pliers and time) and I swear, he would instantly appear with his easy laugh and mechanical knowledge. Dad and Linus would analyze, test and fix. Followed by a cold beer sitting on our back steps, while dusk rolled in. It's hard to see good guys leave us. Linus, thank you for those memories.
